This project was designed in cooperation with North Carolina State University Biological & Agricultural Engineering Department and Ward Consulting Engineers P.C. for the Gardens on Glenwood property. Wright Contracting was awarded the contract which consisted of channel and bank stabilization for the channel reach on the Gardens property. Great care was taken to limit noise and any adverse effects on the property and those living there. Very sensitive and elaborate landscaping had to be protected and worked around during the project. The project included a total bypass pump around, matting, geo lifts, gabion baskets, rock step structures, stormwater outlet removal and stabilization, installation of two bridge abutment retaining walls to reduce high flow impacts and planting. Great care was taken in the choice of plantings and their effect on the beauty of the repaired areas as well as the functionality and purpose they serve as a result of the project.
Wright Contracting Utilized, Small Rubber Tracked Equipment for low impact construction and GPS technology. Our knowledge of urban stream restoration and stabilization.
NCSU BAE students participated in surveying, designs and several assisted in the construction of the project. This was a good learning opportunity for students as a result of partnering with NCSU BAE.
